Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council received a proposed Charter Amendment petition during the regular Council <br />meeting of January 23, 2001. According to State Statute, the City Council is obligated tO <br />schedule a special election if the petition meets all the'requirements. The special election must <br />be held within a 90-day period. <br /> <br />The City Clerk has reviewed the petition signatures and determined that the required amount of <br />signatures are registered voters is in order to file for a special election. The next step in this ' <br />process is to have the City Attorney review the proposed amendments to Chapter five of the City <br />Charter to determine if it is in compliance with the State Statutes and the State Constitution. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to direct the City Attorney to review the proposed Charter Amendment petition to <br />determine if it is in compliance with State Statutes and State Constitution. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />City Attorney <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />CC: 02/13/01 <br /> <br />-191- <br /> <br /> <br />
