-6- <br /> <br />Ramsey Police Department Monthly Report <br /> April 2001 <br /> <br />General Police Statistics an~ <br /> <br />Thefts <br /> <br />Thefts of parts and items from within vehicles were up considerably in April 2001. The <br />incidents are occurring citywide and on random days of the week, with no pattern up to this <br />point. Special emphasis on residential patrol in the late evening hours, along with increased <br />monitoring of area pawnshops is in progress. <br /> <br />Flooding <br /> <br />Flooding on the Mississippi River in Ramsey did not reach 1997 levels. This year's highest <br />crest was about one foot less than in 1997. Public Works crews, along with Engineering staff <br />coordinated delivery of sand and heavy soil material for construction of a berm to prevent <br />high water from encroaching between Bowers Drive and several homes along the river. This <br />berm coupled with one day of pumping seepage and rainwater, allowed ali residents to <br />remain in their homes through the high water period. <br /> <br />Animal Control <br /> <br />Sixteen dogs were impounded at the Anoka Impound Facility in the month of April. Of <br />those impounds, 10 were retrieved by their owners, three were adopted and three were <br />euthanized. <br /> <br />Training <br /> <br />The officers of the Ramsey Police Department compiled 59 hours of P.O.S.T. accredited <br />training in the month of April. Training included the Spring Shoot, Traffic Interdiction, PIT <br />Driving School and Intoxityzer Recertification. Officers also viewed a video on NCIC <br />System Security, as required by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. <br /> <br />· Retirement Announcement <br /> <br />Officer Jeff Ameson submitted his letter of resignation effective no later than June 30, 2001. <br />More than t6 of his 28 years of po!ice service have been with Ramsey. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
