I I ! I I i (BKPR). The City Hall expansion project had earlier been assigned to the Community Center Task Force during an earlier Council meeting in 1998. The space needs study xvas completed and preliminary report was delivered to the Task Force in May 1999. The results of the space needs analysis projected that the City of Ramsey organization will require approximately 6,000 square feet in addition to the 12,800 square feet of the existing City Hall facility to meet current needs. The City also projected that an additional 2,000 total square feet may be acquired over a ten-year period. The preliminary study did not take into account the possibility for need of additional public space usage for larger community group meetings or banquet-style functions. The City Council discussed the matter and, in June 1999, author/zed staff to send requests for proposals out to project management firms phor to the selection of an architectural services firm. The City received proposals in July 1999, however, the City Council opted to postpone the project. During the work session of April 2, 2001, the City Council toured-the City Hall facility and directed staff to bring the recommendation for a project management firm back for Council consideration. The City received four proposals from project management firms in July 1999. The four finns included CPMI of Bloomington, Adolphson and Peterson Construction of Minneapolis, R.A. Morton of St. Cloud, and E & V Consulting of Minneapolis. After a review of the proposals in 1999, staff had been prepared to recommend the services ofE & V Consulting to be selected as the City Hall expansion project management firm. Financing for the project management consulting services related to the City Hall expansion project was adopted as part of the 2001 General Fund Budget in the amount of $20,000. Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to why the City would go through this process before fully utilizing the existing space that has 'been opened up after moving the Council Chambers over to the new Fire Station. Councilmember Zimmerman inquired as to what the status was on .the discussions of a Community Center. City Administrator Norman replied that a survey has been put together and once those responses are received from the residents then the cities involved would have to review those responses. Mayor Gamec inquired if the Community Center project would be a separate project from an addition to City Hall. City Administrator Norman replied that the Community Center would be a separate project. Mayor Gamec stated that there are problems with City Hall in its current state. Councilmember Zimmerman inquired as to what percent of the Council Chambers would handle staff's current needs.
