NORTHWEST CORRIDOR RIVER CROSSING STUDY <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />BackgrOund: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey has contemplated a bridge crossing over the Mississippi River for years, if' <br />not decades. The Anoka County Comprehensive Plan, the Hennepin County Transportation <br />Systems Plan, the Comprehensive Plans of both Ramsey and the City of Dayton., contemplate an <br />expansion of a Northwest Metro roadway connection which involves a Mississippi River <br />crossing between Ramsey and Dayton. Earlier this year, the Counties of Anoka and Hermepin, <br />along with the State Department of Transportation, entered into a joint powers agreement to <br />perform a transportation study of the Northwest Metro Corridor between 1-94, T.H. #10, T.H. <br />#169, and T.H. #101, including a new river crossing of the Mississippi River betWeen the Cities <br />of Daylon and Ramsey. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dennis Berg of Anoka County has formally requested the City of RamseY <br />consider a resolution indicating the City of Ramsey's support of the study as the options for a <br />Northwest Metro corridor and river crossing alignment are underway.
