PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at <br />the Ramsey Fire Station Number II, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> Councilmember Susan E. Anderson <br /> Councilmember Terry Hendriksen: <br /> Councilmember Patti Kurak'. ~ <br /> Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Human Resources Manger Rhonda Heryla <br />City Administrator James Norman ' <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:37 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Receive Information Regarding Planning Commission Applications; 'Provide <br />Staff Direction <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that on May 2, 2001, staff received information that <br />Joe Wivoda was resigning effective immediately so that he could accept a position in Hibbing. <br />Council directed staff to place a notice in the City's legal newspaper, The Anoka Union <br />advertising the vacancy. The filing closed on June 1, 2001, and the City received six letters of <br />interest. Those letters were presented to the Committee for their review. Staff was looking for <br />direction regarding the selection process for the Planning Commission vacancy. Ms. Heryla <br />inquired if the Council intended to interview all of' the applicants and if so when should they be <br />conducted and should they be televised. She did note that she had discussed the issue of <br />televising Commission interviews with the League of Cities and they indicated that televising <br />interviews are legal, but they did express some concerns. They recommended having the City <br />Attorney present during the interviews to protect the City from a defamation lawsuit.
