Mayor Gamec stated if it is a new business, then a conditional use permit is needed. He noted a condition of the permit would be cleaning up the area. He added it is screened, but that is just one advantage. Mr. Menard stated he has a list of ail the neighb?.s not opposed to Mr. Barret~ and the proposed addition. Councilmember Anderson stated she would agee to leaving the business alone, but not to the expansion. She noted it does not seem to fit with the development of the City. She added the Council is trying to get the City more orderly. City Attorney Goodrich asked if the applicant would consider amending the application to remove the expansion. Mr. Barrett stated he would like to expand to have a showroom. City Attorney Goodrich stated the Council could approve a conditional use permit, if the building is not expanded. ~fr. Barrett responded he has to look at the future and must be able to expand. Councilmember Zimmerman stated many business st.art out small this way and move to other facilities as they grow. He noted this shop is intended for only ten people. He added for this operation Mr. Barrett needs to make the next st~p to a commercial property. Mr. Menard stated Mr. Barret~ needs the storage space for cabinets. ~fr. Barrett stated he has 3,000 square feet now and it is full. ~fayor Gamec stated this building is actually larger ihan some cabinet shops already located in Ramsey. Councilmember Connolly stated there is no intention to have a residence. Councilmember Hendriksen asked if ~rr. Barrett had looked at the memo fi.om ~e building official as to what is needed to operate. Mr. Barrett responded he had not. Councilmember Cormolly stated she has no problem with the new business or the existing business. However, she does have a problem with no residence.
