CASE <br /> <br /> CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING THE CITY'S YOUTH ACCESS TO TOBACCO ORDIANCE <br /> <br />By: <br /> <br />William K. Goodrich, City Attorney <br />David Gustafson Police Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />This ordinance was introduced at the Council meeting on July 24, 2001. Subsequent to that <br />meeting, staff has notified the City's tobacco licensees of the proposed amendments to the youth <br />access to tobacco ordinance and invited them to attend tonight's meeting and to participate in the <br />discussion regarding the proposed amendments. <br /> <br />In general, the proposed amendments provide for the codification of the ordinance into' the City <br />code, defines the term "exclusive tobacco store", prohibits persons under 18 from entering exclusive <br />tobacco stores, mandates licensees to attend annual city sponsored seminars designed to educate the <br />licensees as to state and local laws relating to tobacco sales and requires the licensees to educate <br />their employees on this subject also. <br /> <br />Enclosure: <br /> <br />Ordinance amendment <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Council Action: hic~ )s <br />Motion to adopt Ordinance 01-~ w rd' an e directing that Ordinance 98-02 be <br />codified into Chapter 7 of the City Code and amending the following sections of Ordinance 98-02: <br />Section 2.
