CASE <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND LEVY OF ASSESSMENTS FOR PAST-DUE CHARGES ON <br />MUNICIPAL UTILITY BILLS AND CURRENT SERVICES RENDERED <br /> By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey provides varying services that are billed directly to residents through the <br />municipal utility bill [via Connexus Energy] and through invoices. During 1994, the City passed <br />Ordinance #94-13 which allows for the certification of payments for current services that are <br />delinquent as of September 1 of each year. <br /> <br />This is the sixth year that the City of Ramsey will be certifying delinquent payments as <br />assessments to be collected with property taxes payable in 2002. The total of delinquent <br />payments as of the writing of this case was $42,560.88[which includes penalties and interest]. <br />This amount is anticipated to change after collections through September 25, 2001 are posted. <br />The new amount will be the amount to be included in the attached resolution for certification. <br />Any payments received after September 25, 2001, and through November 2, 2001, will be <br />indicated as "prepaid" when the list is transmitted to Anoka County for certification. <br /> <br />Attached is the resolution certifying the delinquencies and the most current list of delinquent <br />billings. <br />Council Action: p~t Rts~o1 <br />Hold pnblic hearing and then motion to ado ution #01-09-XXX Adopting Assessments <br />for Past-Due Charges on Municipal Utility Bills [Which May Include Water, Sewer, Street <br />Lighting, Recycling, Storm Water Charges and Penalties Incurred] and Current Services <br />Rend red. <br /> <br />City Administrgtor <br />Finance ~ffi~r <br /> <br />CC: <br /> 09/9 <br /> /01 <br /> <br /> -157- <br /> <br /> <br />
