Voting No: None <br /> <br /> Case #2: Consider Ending Probationary Period of Public Works Lead Pers°n~ <br /> <br /> Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that John Nelson assumed the position of full;time <br /> Public Works Lead Person on February 14, 2001, and his six-month probationary period was :set <br /> to end August 14, 2001. His performance was reviewed by the P~ks/Utilifiesi Supervisor <br /> documented as satisfactory. Based on the satisfactory six-month~-appra~sal, staff recommended <br /> Mr. Nelson be retained as a regular full-time employee effective-~i:~ust 14, 2001. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember/K~fi:ak, to recommend that the City <br /> Council adopt Resolution # ending probationary.period for Public WOrks Lead Person John <br /> Nelson and ganting him the status of regular full-time emploYee effective August 14, 2001. <br /> <br /> Further discussion: Director of Public Works/Fire Chief KaPler..stated that the position has <br /> exceeded expectations across the board giving the credit to John Nelson. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. "~ .. ): ./i' · <br /> <br /> Case #3: Authorize Appointment of Paid On-Call Fire Fighters <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated: that due. to the addition of a second fire station and <br />vacancies that have occm-red in the year, the Fire Chief is requesting the addition of four new <br />members to the Ramsey Fire Department. A Fire Fighter Information Session was held on July <br />14a' and all interested individuals were given .an: Opportunity to sign up for an interview. <br />Candidates were interviewed by a panel consisting of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and <br />Human Resources Manager. Candidates have alamo passed the physical agility test. The interview <br />panel recorranended that membership with the Ramsey Fire Department be offered to Ken <br />Amundson and' Jamie VanSteenb'ergen-effectice September 14, 2001. Furthermore, the interview <br />panel is recommending membership for Adam Gordon and Jim Block effective January 9, 2002. <br />.T~_? start dates of the four candidates are being staggered for reasons of training and safety. All <br />'-appointments are contingent upon satisfactory results of the criminal background checks, driving <br />record checks, and required physical examinations and drug screens. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmernber Kurak, to recommend that the City <br /> Council authorize the appointments of Ken Amundson, Jamie VanSteenbergen, Adam Gordon, <br /> and Jim Block'fo the positions of paid, on-call fire fighters on the schedule proposed by staff and <br /> contingent upon satisfactory results from the criminal background checks, driving record checks, <br /> and required physical examinations and drug screens. <br /> <br /> Further 'discussion: Councilmember Zimmerman inquired as to how many paid on-call <br /> firefighters there currently were.
