This project would be funded from the d~re~d amount w~thln <br /> Capital Equipment Replacement Fund from the originaL~:, *'80"~;}~Urchase. The Park <br /> Commission is recommending that bids be requested,~ 'playstm~ure vendors for the <br /> provision of the equipment and contract installation..~,~!,::? <br /> .-- _ .~:/~' ~:- . . . . <br />· Rivers Bend Irrigation (*50,000): Lawful Gamblin~g~ds are pro~":6~a, to provide irrigation <br /> in. one of the City's most used Parks. The primaO~'~?6~:henefit w B&,ithe athletic fields, <br /> which are used extensively during the spring a~d falll~': Ve~:~ht as well as the <br /> following irrigation project would receive the assistance of a'n.. who started the first wee <br /> of July. In addition to receiving more project administration, v/des valuable business <br /> management experience to this graduating Ramsey resident of M~ Stat~b~niversity who <br /> has also served as a seasonal worker-~'6~the Park Department for ab0~,i ~ars. <br /> <br /> -~ ?<;,~:::~. ~,,.~ ~?,,. ~!!-~.:~.~,..~ <br /> Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if there are lights:;at':Pd,'vers Bend P~tk. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied r;~; hoting th~h~e reside~ihave requested that lights not <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if there ~any concern in regards to sprinkling systems and <br />lightening strikes'. '~ii¢~}~, <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained [?,,~:}~"~'rinkling systems are made of underground <br />plastic not metal .... :' . .~.~ .,.~.~. ..... <br /> <br />· Solstice Pari~':~rrigation and [ands'~'~i~} ($45,000): The majority of this $45,000 project, <br />..... financed by the Landfill Trust Fund's interest earnings, would be needed for irrigation and <br /> landscape improvements to this 1.8 acre park. In addition to the needed landscaping, a <br /> horseshoe pit and "washer pi~" would be constructed as well as a volleyball court and entry <br /> signage. It. was noted.that the property to the east has been proposed for townhomes, <br /> including the dedicatibn of additional park acreage for a ball field. Should this ultimately <br /> occur, that field space could be irrigated following this project. The park dedication monies <br /> (over the land dedication) may pay for improvements to the expansion area. This project was <br /> scheduled fisr 2000, but was delayed in anticipation of the above-proposed development. <br /> Last summer sod was installed as part of restoration for the sewer and water extension to the <br /> Lord. of Life Church. A considerable amount of time is currently being expended in keeping <br /> the turf alive until irrigation is added to this very sandy site.
