Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to app~'~¢ 'the advisory question to be placed on the ballot for the November 6, 2001 election as amen~d. Alena Hunter stated that the Charter Commission does not have ,the auti:/6rity to decide advisory questions, but the Council does which is why she wanted:to proi~0~ a couple of advisory questions to be placed on the ballot for the Novemb~;i6:,' 20'0i:,: ~lection. It has been suggested by Councilmembers and residents that there should~bemore pub'i1'c hearings regarding the bridge crossing and Town Center so what better way to·~:*~'esidents input that by placing the issues on the ballot. The proposed advisory questi0ns!~'-~were as folloWs; 1) "The current Comprehensive Plan Draft proposes a bridge crossing 69e~:the MissisSiPpi:, River between the cities of Ramsey and Dayton. Do you support the constructio~ of~a br/dge across the Mississippi · '>" "Do ~·.~ River. ; 2) you want a Town Center with restaurants, shopp/n~;' and other amenities along the Highway 10 corridor that would bring character and identity to'the:}Q!·ty of Ramsey?" Councilmember Hendriksen stated thief, everyone could come up with a question or two they would like included on the ballot. He did not th/nk that at 10:10 p.m. it waS,the appropriate form to bring the questions forward. He stated that he W0fild, like to see a question on the ballot as to whether or not the citizens are in favor'of.a central plmg area vcliich would extend City sewer and water. Mr. Hunter replied to add the question. - ~ Councitmember Kurak stated that she felt the 'proposed questions should be added to the ballot. Mayor Gamec stated that question number one wOUld be overwhelming yes. Councilmember Zimmermhn Stated~ that q~-e~tion number one is something that residents have wanted ir} the Ci~ 0f-Ramsey for some-time and would probably be yes from everyone. He "th(/i~ght, that question number two could be misleading. Councilmember Anderson Stated-that she was willing to have both questions included on the ballot, but suggested placinga per/od after the word "corridor" in the second question. Motion by CounCilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to add the two proposed adviSory questions on the November 6, 2001 with the second question being amended to place a period after the word "corridor" and the remaining portion of the sentence deleted.
