CASE #: ~ AUTHORIZE LAND ACQUISITION AND SEWER/WATER EXTENSION TO RAMSEY PROFESSIONAL BUILDING ON HIGHWAY 10 PROJECT #01-35 By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer Background: The City of Ramsey is interested in acquiring property for a Highway 10 frontage road consistent with a concept identified in "A Plan for Highway 10 Corridor" prepared by the Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. An opportunity to obtain the 42-foot strip in from the property located at 6957 Highway 10 (Ramsey Professional Building) has been negotiated, in part, for the extension of sewer and water to the subject parcel (purchase agreement attached to case). The primary reason for the acquisition of property is related to a negotiated agreement between Ramsey B & B and Ramsey Professional Building in order to move the Hwy 10 access to the property line of the two parties. Attached is a sketch of the proposed extension of sewer and water. It should be noted that the City has title to a 60-foot strip of property adjacent to the south side of the railroad west of the professional building property. The sanitary sewer is proposed to be extended several hundred feet into this City owned parcel street, it will provide sewer availability to the three parcels to the west without incurring a number of short extensions including unnecessary manholes. The watermain line will be extended only through the professional building property. It is anticipated that the total cost of this work will be less than $50,000 and state statutes allow work of this scope to be awarded based upon quotations. Staff anticipates the receipt of several quotations before the time of the Tuesday Council meeting. Staff would anticipate funding for this to be from the sewer and water utility.
