ACE
has not only provided great curbside and recycling day service (twice a year), they also assisted
staff in a pilot project this summer that was conducted in Central Park. In an attempt for staff to
start a recycling program at Central Park, ACE donated six recycling containers and bi-weekly
recycling pick-up at the park. Ramsey residents utilized the recycling containers quite frequently
and therefore staff considers the pilot program to be a success. The Finance Committee may
want to revisit the policy of entering into a three-year contract. Anoka County Integrated Waste
has stated to staff that the City can enter into a residential curbside recycling contract with a
maximum of a five-year term. If the Finance Committee is inclined to increase the number of
term years of the recycling contract, staff will amend the current contract accordingly.

Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to recommend that the City
Council enter into a residential ::curbside recycling contract with ACE Solid Waste with a three-
year renewal term. , ,.<?;¢

Further discussion: ~2~ity Attorne~Goodrich recommended that the City obtain quotes from
licensed haulers to a~Ure the c0~unity,: that they are receiving competitive prices, but noted
that the City is not under'hny 6Nf~atioii~:t0~:bbtain quotes.
