I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if the building will have a sprinkling system. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied yes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman recommended that the Council address the amendment to the <br />Comprehensive Plan first. <br /> <br />Case #15: Request for Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Case of Lord of Life Church <br /> <br />'Principal Planner Trudgeon stated that Lord of Life Church has submitted an application for a <br /> Comprehensive Plan amendment for their property located between T.H. #47 and CSAH #5 <br /> (Nowthen Boulevard). The request is to change the land use designation from Commercial and <br /> Medium Density Residential to High Density Residential. Lord of Life Church is currently in the <br /> process of platting their property into three new parcels. They are requesting that the land use <br /> designation of Lot 2, Block 1' be changed fi:om commercial and-medium density to high density <br /> residential with a maximum of 15 units per acre. The March 2001 draf[ of the Comprehensive <br /> Plan shows the area of Lot 2, Block to be designated as high density residential. Lord of Life <br /> Church's request is consistent with the land use designation shown in the March 2001 draf~ of the <br /> Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the Comprehensive <br /> Plan amendment. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired as to what the allowed density was with a R-3U zoning. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Tmdgeon replied that the density would be up to seven units per acre under the <br />1995 Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he did not have any objections to what was being proposed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what the process was for amending the existing <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon replied that staff, with Council approval, would submit an application <br />to the Met Council for their consideration. Once the Met Council either approves or denies the <br />amendment than the Council would have to act on the amendment. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that if the Met Council does not approve the Comprehensive <br />Plan amendment, then all of the other actions being requested would not be necessary. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon replied that all approvals would be contingent upon receiving the <br />Comprehensive Plan amendment. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adopt Resolution <br />#01 ~ 10-397 authorizing staff to submit the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to the Metropolitan <br />Council. <br /> <br />City Council/October 23, 2001 <br /> Page 19 of 24 <br /> <br />-85- <br /> <br /> <br />
