WHEREAS: <br /> <br /> NORTH METRO TH 10 CORRIDOR COALITION <br /> DRAFT RESOLUTION <br />The North Metro TH 10 Corridor Coalition was established to encourage and <br /> coordinate improvements to TH 10 in the membership area, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: <br /> <br />The improvement of TH 10 and its connecting roadways is essential to the long <br /> term health, safety and welfare of the residents and travelers in the member <br /> cities, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The continued economic welfare and quality of life in the north metro area is <br /> threatened by increasing congestion and related environmental problems, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: <br /> <br />The lack of adequate funding for transportation infrastructure investments in <br /> Minnesota precludes the Coalition members from confidently planning for <br /> growth, and wise investments of private and public funds, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: <br /> <br />Additional funding is needed specifically in the Coalition area for the North Star <br /> Corridor, the Northwest River Crossing, the Hanson Boulevard Interchange <br /> and additional through lane capacity on TH 10, as well as enhanced transit <br /> service, park and ride facilities, trails and pathways, NOW THEREFORE: <br /> <br />BE <br /> <br /> IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Directors of the North Metro TH 10 Corridor <br /> Coalition does hearby recommend and endorse the increase of funding for <br /> transportation in Minnesota by: <br /> <br />1. Increasing the gas tax by at least $.05 l~e~lon, wi~~ given to use of all <br /> or a portion of the additional revenues l~o~-'suppo~<fhe issuance of TH Bonda <br />2. Indexing the gas tax rate to increase in future years in concert with increases in the <br /> Highway Construction Cost Index. <br />3. Including up to $200 million in General Fund Bond revenues for use in transit <br /> investments, specifically including funds for the North Star Corridor, and, <br /> <br />BE IT <br /> <br />ADOPTED DECEMBER 30, 2001 <br /> <br />WITNESS: <br /> Mayor Lonni McCauley, President <br /> <br />FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Coalition members do encourage and request that <br /> the members of the Legislature from the member areas and that the Governor <br /> actively support and request adoption of necessary Legislation and <br /> administrative action to provide for increased transportation funds during the <br /> 2002 Legislative Session. <br /> <br /> 5k <br /> <br /> <br />
