May 21, 2001

Steve Jankowski
City Engineer
15153 Nowthen Blvd.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Steve:

This letter is a fbllow-up to the conversation you had with Nathan Gubbe last week about the fence
that was built along Highway 47, .

We are located in the Arbor Ridge development in Ramsey. In this area, the fence ends just before the
stoplight for 149m Avenue and then begins again about 300 feet North, leaving homes open to the
Highway.

We are requesting that the fence be continued in front of our homes. Before the construction to widen
the Highway, there were many trees that served as a barrier from the road. These mature trees were
replaced with only a few 2-3 foot pines, which give us no protection from the busy Highway.

The following is a list of reasons for building the fence:

- We are located closer to Highway 47 than any of the other homes that- the, fence was built in front of.

- It would improve the appearance of the neighborhood to have one solid fence instead of one that
looks unfinished.

- The noise and litter barrier we had from the trees is now gone. (Just last month a tire fell off a
moving vehicle and hit our house).

We believe it is in the best interest of the city and ourselves to complete the fence 'in front of our
homes. Thank you in advance for your consideration on this matter.

Sincerely,
