PW CASE # 2

UPDATE ON WATER TOWER LETTERING AND PAINTING
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

On Tuesday, November 21, 2000 the Public Works Committee staff presented several renderings
of the paint scheme for the new water tower. You may recall, the scheme consisted of the single
word "Ramsey" which was to be repeated at three locations on the tank. The direction of the
Committee was to have the wording modified to read "The City of Ramsey". Consultant Bob
Kollmer from AEC Engineering has prepared a revised lettering scheme which is attached for
your review. A color copy will be made available to you at the meeting. The most significant
impact for using "The City of Ramsey" rather than "Ramsey" is that is increases the length of the
wording along the perimeter of the tarLk from 60 degrees to approximately 90 degrees. If three
labels were to be painted on the tank, there would be a 30-degree gap between labels. I have
prepared an exhibit to illustrate this impact.

Committee Action:

Recommend acceptance or revision of the proposal.

Reviewed by:

Director of Public Works

PW: 01./16/01
