MEMO

DATE:

TO:

FROM:

RE:

2/15/01

Economic Development Authority rEDA)

James E. Norman, City Administrator

Staff Updates

Waste Management Property:

The Ramsey EDA had directed the staff to begin negotiations with Waste Management for the
property south of future Sunwood Drive. Staff received an appraisal last summer and made an
offer to Waste Management. Waste Management was in the process of performing their own
appraisal of the property prior to responding to the City's initial offer.

Transwest:

Transwest (a.k.a. Communicor) recently received a conditional use permit for their site for a
temporary office structure. During discussions with staff for the conditional use permit, the
company indicated interest in a possible land swap, they would move their operation to a less
visible site in the community and sell the property located south of County Road #116 and east
of Unity Street for redevelopment purposes. Staff will discuss the matter further with EDA.

Altron:

As the City completed negotiations for the fmai buildable site in AEC (Cormexus) Industrial
Park, it was discovered by the TIF Specialist that lot remained undeveloped in TIF District #6.
Staff will discuss the site and oppommities with EDA.

Sewer and Water Extension Feasibility Study:'

The EDA had an opportunity during the September EDA meeting to review an analysis that
evaluated alternative land uses for the proposed BMA property. Staff also completed an
additional feasibility that evaluated the feasibility of constructing City sewer and water services
to the west boarder of the City later in September. It was recently determined that the study had
not been reviewed by the EDA and the item has been added to the agenda for EDA review.

17
