Motion by Commissioner Milless, seconded by Commissioner Ebel, to recommend that the City <br />Charter be amended as follows and be forwarded to the City Council: <br />1) That Chapter 4 of the City Charter be amended so as to provide for a primary election system <br /> and that the text for said amendment be the text approved at the Charter Commission meeting <br /> on July 19, 2001. <br />2) That Chapter 2 of the City Charter be amended so as to provide for a ward system and that <br /> the text for said amendment be the text approved at the Charter Commission meeting on July <br /> 19, 2001. <br />Further, the City Clerk is directed to forward the above referenced proposed Charter amendments <br />to the City Council, which, pursuant to State Statute, shall cause the amendments to be submitted <br />at a special election. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Vogt, Commissioners Milless, Ebel, Childs, Bertzyk, <br />Deemer, Henke, LaMere, and Swanson. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Alena Hunter, 14628 Helium Street NW, Ramsey, thanked the Commission for moving the issue <br />forward and giving the citizens ofRamsey a chance to speak on the issue. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer requested that the Commission meet on the third Thursday of August to <br />consider an item that he would like included on the special election ballot. He is proposing to <br />amend Chapter 5 of the City Charter to require the majority of the registered voters to vote in a <br />special election in order for the election to be valid. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Deemer, seconded by Commissioner Childs, to schedule a Charter <br />Commission meeting on August'9, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Vogt, Commissioners Deemer, Childs, Bertzyk, Ebel, <br />Henke, LaMere, Milless, and Swanson. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Childs, seconded by Commissioner Ebel, to adjourn the meeting. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Vogt, Commissioners Childs, Ebel, Bertzyk, Deemer, <br />Henke, LaMere, Milless, and Swanson. Voting No: None.
