Police

3 Squad Replacements

Included in the 2000 budget is $84,000 for the purchase of three replacement squad cars.
The City is on a rotating program of squad replacement, with three squads being replaced in
2000 and two in 2001. These vehicles can be purchased from the Hermepin County Cooperative
Purchasing venture through Superior Ford.

5 La. ptop Computers (.MDT's)

$55,000 was budgeted in 2000 for the purchase of 5 MDT's for the City's five squad cars.
With the Police Department becoming a member of the Anoka County Central Records program,
it is essential that the squad cars have the required equipment to use this program to its desired
level. If neither the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing contract nor the Hennepin
County Cooperative Purchasing Program offer these devices, specifications and sealed bids will
need to be obtained. It is being requested that staff be allowed to obtain the necessary
requirements for the purchase of the 5 laptop computers.

Fire Department

Included in the 1999 budget was $30,000 for the purchase of a two-ton truck to replace Unit
#503, which is the fire department's engine #2. This current truck is a 1979 model which has an
approximate trade in value of $15,000. The $30,000 that was budgeted takes into consideration
this $15,000, or in other words, the actual value ora new truck is $45,000. The two-ton can be
purchased through the Heimepin County Purchasing Cooperative. It is being requested that
staff be allowed to order the two-ton through the County contract.

Capital Items - Catego _ry #2. - The items that fall under this category are as follows:
Fire:

Included in the 2000 budget is $15,000 for extrication tools. As stated above, staffwill
acquire no less than two written quotes for this purchase.

Street Maintenance

Included in the 2000 budget is $20,000 for a hot asphalt mix trailer. Again, written quotes would
be obtained relating to the desired equipment.

I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
