Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Cook, Commissioners , Droegemueller, Rolfe, AsfahI, <br /> <br />Case #1: Approve Central Park Play Equipment Design <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that the purpose of the case was to approve the design of <br />Central Park's $51,000 play structure. It was the earlier cc. nsensus of the Park Commission that <br />the volunteer installation should be deferred until Spring 2000. He reviewed the play structure <br />noting that the structure meets the most recent ADA requirements. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns noted that the pla.y structm~e did v.'~t include swings and questioned if the <br />existing swings could be salvage~. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Superviser Bo(os replie4 that he w~.s not sere that t~,~e existing swings meet the <br />~;urrent safe~., guidelines. <br /> <br />~kx~rp2rsor: Cook statcJ that he would re'_ ::arch tt~.: information further. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere inquired if swings ~a'e no longer ~'~eing considered ibr i- laygromnds. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervigor Boos replied nv, but thc height cf the swJ. ngs that are offered has been <br />reduced to eight feet r~er than ten feet. <br /> <br />Chairpersor, Cook explained the reasoning for the eight-foot swings and expla(ned that the <br />requirements have been changed to require swings to have their own separate surface area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns questioned if there would be space to add swings in the future. <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied yes. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe inquired if th~ $51,000 only covers the playground equipment. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied the $5t,000 will cover all costs including shipping tax <br />and supervision. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johns questioned if the $51,000 will include landscaping, <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained that there would be some additional funds available <br />for landscaping. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller inquired if the sale of any used play equipment would be used for <br />the project. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/December 9, 1999 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
