Funding frm Anoka Coumfs Commurmy Developm~,.2 Block Grants is an import, ant source of revenue for ~ J. se programa Since funding for the operation of our programs comes from the counties and state and does not include additional dollar:, for capital p~za'chases, we depend on CDBG fund:: to help us with these program needs. On behalf of Rise, Inc. and the people.we serve in the City of Ramsey, we are submitting this application for CDBG funds. We are requesting a grant of $2,000 to be used toward the purchase of five veklcles for our transportation services: two mirfi-buses with wheel 'chair li~s and three 15-passenger vans. Total cost of the vehicles is $160,500. In 1998 Rise provided services'to 1,124 Anoka residents including 15'residents of Ramsey, 10 ~f whom are transported by Rise vans each day. Rise services to Ramsey residents include career planning, job training and coaching, job placement and other support services to help them secure and maintain their jobs and become productive, wage-earning citizens. More than 90 percent of the people we serve, work in competitive or supported community- based jobs and many need transportation from their homes to their jobs. Unfortunately, most people don't drive 'or own cars, therefore, they depend on other modes of transportation such as the Anoka Traveler, Metro Mobility, MTC, or Rise. We provide transportation to people who because of their vulnerability can't access other transportation options, those who live beyond the service areas of other provider.s, or those Whose employment depends on Rise's flexible and consistent scheduling.
