COmmISSION BUSINESS Case ~1: .R~quest For A Conditional Use Permit ~o Conduct Ceramic Classes At Residence; Case Of Ms. Connie Harmer: Two neighbors of Ms. Harmer, one being Ethel Johnson of 15341 Kangaroo, arrived at this time and expressed concern regarding the amount of traffic flow that would be created by these ceramic classes as there are small children in the area. The Commission reviewed the findings of fact at this time. Ms. Harmer stated that she does have a full time job and classes would be conducted in the evenings until she is able to quit her day job, at which time she would also conduct afternoon classes. Ms. Harmer stated that she has been teaching ceramics for 2% years and the class sizes are from 2-6 persons. She noted that many of the students ride-share and there should not be any great increase in traffic in the neighborhood. With regards to parking area, Ms. Harmer stated that her driveway is large enough to accomodate 6 cars. Chairman Peterson explained that certain conditions would apply to this permit and if those conditions are no~"met, the permit is subject to review. Ms. Harmer stated that she is not planning any retail sales at her residence, other than the sale of ceramic supplies to the students. She also stated that the kiln she intends to utilize is powered by electricity. Motion by COmmissioner Deemer and seconded by Commissioner LaDue to recommend that Council approve the proposed findings of fact for a conditional use permit for Ms. Connie Harmer at 15331 Kangaroo Street NWwith the following add/tions: 6. Proper placement of two fire extinguishers. 7. No retail sales shall be conducted on the premises. ! ! Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairm~n Peterson, Commissioners Kennen, Deemer, Zi~merman, Hendriksen and LaDue. Voting No: None. Motion by Co~m, issioner LaDue and seconded by Commissioner Hendriksen to reccomend that Council approve Ms. Connie Harmer's request for a conditional use permit to conduct ceramic classes at her residence at 15331 Kangaroo Street NW contingent upon the applicant entering into an agreement with the City of Ramsey. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairm~n Peterson, C~issioners Hendriksen, Deemer, LaDle, Zimmerman and Kennen. Voting No: None. Case #2: Case #3: Appointments/Reappointments Of Commission Chairperson, Vice-Chairperso and Secretary: (Refer to Page 4, Paragraph 8 of these minutes) Tom Kurak; Request For A Variance: Mr. Kurak stated that he intends to buy a parcel of land from Mr. John Thorn which will include Mr. Thorn's present residence; there will be no subdivision of land and one of the conditions of the purchase agreement is that Mr. Thorn P & Z/January 3, 1984
