COmmISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case ~1: .R~quest For A Conditional Use Permit ~o Conduct Ceramic Classes At <br /> Residence; Case Of Ms. Connie Harmer: <br /> <br />Two neighbors of Ms. Harmer, one being Ethel Johnson of 15341 Kangaroo, arrived <br />at this time and expressed concern regarding the amount of traffic flow that <br />would be created by these ceramic classes as there are small children in the <br />area. <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed the findings of fact at this time. <br /> <br />Ms. Harmer stated that she does have a full time job and classes would be <br />conducted in the evenings until she is able to quit her day job, at which <br />time she would also conduct afternoon classes. Ms. Harmer stated that she <br />has been teaching ceramics for 2% years and the class sizes are from 2-6 <br />persons. She noted that many of the students ride-share and there should <br />not be any great increase in traffic in the neighborhood. With regards to <br />parking area, Ms. Harmer stated that her driveway is large enough to <br />accomodate 6 cars. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson explained that certain conditions would apply to this permit <br />and if those conditions are no~"met, the permit is subject to review. <br /> <br />Ms. Harmer stated that she is not planning any retail sales at her residence, <br />other than the sale of ceramic supplies to the students. She also stated <br />that the kiln she intends to utilize is powered by electricity. <br /> <br />Motion by COmmissioner Deemer and seconded by Commissioner LaDue to recommend <br />that Council approve the proposed findings of fact for a conditional use <br />permit for Ms. Connie Harmer at 15331 Kangaroo Street NWwith the following <br />add/tions: <br /> <br />6. Proper placement of two fire extinguishers. <br /> <br />7. No retail sales shall be conducted on the premises. <br /> <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairm~n Peterson, Commissioners Kennen, Deemer, <br />Zi~merman, Hendriksen and LaDue. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Co~m, issioner LaDue and seconded by Commissioner Hendriksen to reccomend <br />that Council approve Ms. Connie Harmer's request for a conditional use permit <br />to conduct ceramic classes at her residence at 15331 Kangaroo Street NW <br />contingent upon the applicant entering into an agreement with the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairm~n Peterson, C~issioners Hendriksen, <br />Deemer, LaDle, Zimmerman and Kennen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Appointments/Reappointments Of Commission Chairperson, Vice-Chairperso <br />and Secretary: (Refer to Page 4, Paragraph 8 of these minutes) <br /> <br />Tom Kurak; Request For A Variance: <br /> <br />Mr. Kurak stated that he intends to buy a parcel of land from Mr. John Thorn <br />which will include Mr. Thorn's present residence; there will be no subdivision <br />of land and one of the conditions of the purchase agreement is that Mr. Thorn <br /> <br />P & Z/January 3, 1984 <br /> <br /> <br />
