Office of the Mayor

CITY HALL · 2015 FIRST AVE. NO. · ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303-2270

PHONE (612) 576-2700 * ADMINISTRATION FAX (612) 576-2727

April 17, 2000

Tom Gamec, Mayor
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW
Ramsey, Minnesota 55303-6140

Dear Tom:

During its work session on Monday, April 10, the Anoka City Council discussed continued
participation in the community center feasibility study at great length. The consensus of the
Anoka City Council was to not participate in the second phase of the feasibility study. While
remaining supportive of the community center concept, the council felt that the services that
would be provided in the center are, for the most part, available in Anoka; although, in
different locations. Second, the city has embarked on an ambitious capital improvements plan
to upgrade its public facilities, committing its limited budget and bonding capacity to these
projects over the next few years. Finally, the Anoka City Council remains open to Andover,
Ramsey, and the School District in making the community center a reality; for example, the
city may be interesting a program to "buy down" non-resident rates to resident rates for
memberships, such as has been done at the Anoka Aquatic Center.

We will continue to be supportive of your efforts with regard to the community center~ Please
keep us informed of your progress.

On behalf of the
Anoka City Council,

P er M.
