CASE # <br /> <br /> ACCEPT REFUSE/RECYCLING HAULER; <br />AWARD QUOTE FOR MUNICIPAL SITE SERVICE <br />Kim Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In 1999, the City Council directed Staff to begin a process to request service quotes for <br />municipal site service. Letters inviting various garbage haulers to submit quotes for <br />service were mailed. Because Waste Management had contracted with the City to <br />provide this service, they were sent a certified letter explaining the change in City policy <br />and also invited to submit a quote. At the bid opening on July 12, 1999, Staff informed <br />the bidders of the City's intent to approve the lowest bid for a one-year contract. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />On May 23, 2000, requests for service quotes were again sent to the area garbage haulers <br />inviting them to participate in the bidding process. By the advertised deadline of July 17, <br />2000, Staff received bids from Walter's Recycling and Refuse, Peterson Brother's <br />Sanitation and ACE Solid Waste, Inc. Waste Management did not submit a quote for <br />services. <br /> <br />The lowest quote that was received was from ACE Solid Waste. Please see the attached <br />quote sheet that lists bids for the items requested in the May 23r~ letter asking for service <br />quotes. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to accept garbage hauling and recycling service quotes, and recommend approval <br />of the quote received from ACE Solid Waste, Inc. for a one-year contract for refuse and <br />recycling service for municipal sites, beginning August 1, 2000. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to accept trash hauling and recycling service quotes and approve a one-year <br />contract with ACE Solid Waste, Inc. for refuse and recycling service for municipal sites, <br />beginning August 1, 2000. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />City Administrator <br /> <br />Copies also Distributed to: <br />Building Maintenance Worker <br />Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />Attachments: <br />1.
