I I I I i I I I I I I I I I I I I I PC CASE APPOINTMENT OF THE ALTERNATE COMMISSIONER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO FILL VACANCY Klm Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Administrator Background: Because of the vacancy recently created as a result of the passing of Leo Anderson, Chair of the Planning Commission, there is a need to appoint an alternate to fill this vacancy. At the June 13th Council meeting, the City Council appointed several commissioners to fill the vacancies that existed on the Planning, Economic Development and Charter commissions. The Council also decided to name alternates in the event any of the appointed commissioners were unable to accepted their appointments or later were unable to complete their terms. Michael Reeve and Bob Griffiths were selected as Alternates to the Planning Commission. Mr. Reeve has since been appointed to the Planning Commission, leaving Mr. Gr/ffiths as the next alternate to the Planning Commission. Staff Recommendation: Staff is recommending that Bob Griffiths be appointed to the Planning Commission. Committee Action: 1. Motion to recommend to the City Council to approve Staff recommendation to appoint Bob Griffiths to the Planning Commission. 2. Motion to recommend to the City Council to direct the Assistant City Administrator to notify Bob Gdffiths of the Council's action. Council Action: I. Approve Staff recommendation to appoint Bob Griffiths to the Planning Commission. 2. Direct the Assistant City Administrator to notify Bob Griffiths of the Council's action.
