Councilmember Dehen asked if they have to be coach buses — what about school buses. The reality is it's heavily subsidized. It might not be the most comfortable but it may make some sense. Mayor Ramsey stated the idea is to keep our ridership. Mr. Olson added that we have had a lot of compliments. Councilmember Elvig stated that if we know only one RFP responder, we are stepping into a problem. It might be a good idea to negotiate an extension. Councilmember Look agreed to negotiate a couple of extensions and then go out for an RFP. There were a few bus riders present at the meeting. One of them commented that besides the comfort and convenience for the riders, they also frequent Ramsey businesses. Consensus was to negotiate for two additional extensions beyond 2011 through October 2012 and then talk about the RFP process. Councilmember Elvig thanked the bus riders who came in to share their comments. 5) Discussion of Inclusion of Candidates for Office in Happy Days Business Expo Associate Planner Gladhill stated that this report is on the work session because it relates to discussions about Happy Days funding. Council has requested that the inclusion of candidates for office be allowed to participate at cost in the Business Expo for Happy Days. The registration fee is $30 per booth. If the direction is to allow candidates, staff feels this should be opened to all offices that represent the City of Ramsey Mayor Ramsey stated that the Happy Days Committee was not opposed to it. Mr. Gladhill stated he will work with the City Clerk to get the list of candidates to contact.
