AUTHORIZE STAFF TO WORK WITH MASONRY CONTRACTOR TO
DO TUCKPOINTING ON THE EXTERIOR MASONRY OF
THE OLD TOWN HALL
Kim Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Administrator

Background:

As the Council is aware, Staff presented a case in June asking for authorization to work
with various contractors to finish the restoration of the Old Town Hall. As such, Staff
contacted SEH, Inc., an architectural firm that works with masonry contractors and was
provided with a list of contractors that specialize in tuckpointing and masonry
repair/renovation. Staff contacted the contractors inviting them to submit quotes for the
tuckpointing work.

Observations:

Quotes had not been received by Staff at the time that this case needed to be included in
the agenda packet for the August 22, 2000 Council Meeting. A list of interested
contractors and their quotes will be provided to the City Council at the Council meeting.

Council Action:

The quotes will be available at the meeting. Staff is recommending approval of the lowest
submitted quote provided that quote proves to be in the best interest of the City.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator

Distributed to:
Public Works Director
Finance Director

CC: 08/22/00

-281-
