CC Regular Session <br />Date: 03/08/2011 <br />By: Jo Thieling <br />Administrative Services <br />Item #: 7. 6. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Consider Resolution in Support of Recommendations for Refurbishment of Coon Rapids Dam <br />Background: <br />The Anoka City Council took action to support recommendations relating to refurbishment of the Coon Rapids <br />Dam, as approved by the Coon Rapids Dam Commission. The five recommendations are as follows: <br />1) Complete a major refurbishment of the Coon Rapids Dam for a fifty-year or greater life span. <br />2) Begin the work on the dam refurbishment as soon as possible. <br />3) Use State Funds to complete the refurbishment work. <br />4) Keep the Coon Rapids Regional Dam Commission authorized in Chapter 361, Minnesota Session Laws, 2010 <br />Regular Session in existence for up to 12 months to study and address the issues of governance, ownership, and <br />operation of the dam. <br />5) Refurbishment of the dam should be done in such a manner as to not impede future installation of hydroelectric <br />power. <br />Staff is asking Ramsey Council to express their support for these recommendations for refurbishment of the Coon <br />Rapids Dam as well. <br />Recommendation: <br />The recommendations of the Coon Rapids Dam Commission are consistent with the interests of the City of Ramsey <br />to retaion the dam and to provide statewide funding to make the necessary repairs. <br />Funding Source: <br />N/A <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to adopt Resolution # 11-03-XXX in Support of the Recommendations for Refurbishment of the Coon <br />Rapids Dam. <br />Resolution in Support of CR Dam Refurbishment <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 03/03/2011 04:49 PM <br />Form Started By: Jo Thieling Started On: 03/02/2011 10:44 AM <br />Final Approval Date: 03/03/2011 <br />
