CASE ACCEPT INFORMATION REGARDING STAFF RECOMMENDATION FOR A NEW STREET NAME FOR 153a° / 155TM AVENUES Kim Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Administrator Background: The City is currently working to construct a connection between 153rd Avenue and 155t~' Avenue creating a city street that connects the east side of Ramsey to the west side. At the Happy Days festival in September, residents were asked for their suggestions for a new street name. Staff received approximately 30 suggestions, which was submitted to Council for their consideration. They selected five and asked that Staff be surveyed for their choice from these five. Observations: Surveys listing the five choices went out to all City departments asking that each proposed street name be ranked and returned to the Assistant City Administrator by November 13"'. The Assistant City Administrator received 37 responses from 54 city employees (includes all permanent full-time and part-time employees) - about 67% of the Staff responded. The Staff selected "Alpine" as their favorite name for 153/155 AvenUes. There was also a suggestion that 'Drive' should be changed to 'parkway' because the roadway runs adjacent to Alpine Park. Lake Itasca Drive came in as second favorite; Municipal Center Drive third; Thom Drive fourth; and Pearson Drive fifth.' Staff Recommendation: That the City Council receive information regarding Staff recommendation for Alpine Parkway as a new street name for 153~ and 155th Avenues. Council Action: Motion to accept Staff recommendation or as based on Council discussion.
