If staff can make an <br />offer based on the panel's recommendation, the candidate can give notice to their employer and <br />be able to complete the required examinations prior to starting in November. Staff recommended <br />that the Council authorize the hiring of one of the five finalists for the patrol officer position <br />based on the panel's recommendation. Thejob offer would be at the starting patrol officer salary <br />for 2000 ($33,688) and be contingent on background checks, psychological examination and an <br />employment physical. The new officer would serve a one-year probationary-period.
