-24- Case #8: Report fi'om tile Personnel Committee 1) Consider Continuing Public Works Lead Person Role Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Co,molly, to recommend that the City Council authorize the continnance of the temporary position of Public Works Lead Person through December 31, 2000, at the previously stated wage increase of $1.96 per hour. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, CmmolIy, Anderson, and Zimmen'nan. Voting No: None. 2) Consider Amending Personnel Policy Regarding Hiring Procedures Motion by Councihnember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Core, oily, to recommend that City Council authorize amend!ng the Personnel Policy of the City Code to include a new section 3.20.035 titled Recruitment and Selection with the language as proposed by staff. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councillnembers Aa~derson, Co,molly, Hendfiksen, and Zimmel'man. Voting No: None. 3) Consider Amending Policy on Education and Tuition Reimbursement Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that the Persormel Committee directed staff to evaluate other city's policies, including the requirement that the employee must pass the course in order to be reimbursed, and look into the option of purchasing self-paced materials. I t I I I 4) Authorize Hiring of Patrol Officer Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to authorize hiring one of the five finalists for the patrol officer position based on the panel's recommendation. The job offer would be at the starting patrol officer salary for 2000 ($33,688) and be contingent upon successful completion of background checks, psychological examination, and an employment physical.
