Chairperson Peterson replied that the primary could be instituted by the year 2000, and then the <br />City could do a referendum at that point for a ward system. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich noted that the earliest the ward system could be instituted would be <br />2002. <br /> <br />Consensus was reached by the Charter Commission that the Council seats would not be <br />increased unless the City implements a ward system. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Kiefer, seconded by Chairperson Peterson, to recommend that if the <br />City implements a ward system that they increase the number of Council seats to seven. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Peterson, Contrnissioners Kiefer, Anderson, <br />Donovan, Spain-Bfist, and Vogt. Voting No: None. Absent: Marn, Netzloff, and Swokowski. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Consensus was reached by the Commission to schedule the next meeting based on Council's <br />response to the primary election and after applications are received for the commission opening. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Kiefer, seconded by Commissioner Donovan, to adjourn the meeting. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Peterson, Commissioners Kiefer, Donovan, <br />Anderson, Spain-Brist, and Vogt. Voting No: None.
