Mayor Gamec replied that in his opinion he does not think the speed humps have made that
much of a difference. The studies that have been done in the area have shown that traffic has not
slowed down much and he thinks that walkways should be placed on both sides of Dysprosium.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that Staff met with the County in regards to the stop signs
being installed at the intersection of Dysprosium and c.R. #116 and the understanding is that the
County Public Works Committee is requesting that the speed humps be removed if the stop signs
are installed. He noted that he would be willing to give up the speed humps in favor of the stop
signs.

Councilmember Zimmerman replied that he personally does not live on Dysprosium and thinks
the residents should be questioned in regards to the speed humps.

Councilmember Anderson stated that she is concerned that the traffic on Dysprosium might
increase in the future and is interested in what the residents in the area would have to say.

City Administrator Norman explained that the motion by the County Public Works Committee
was to install the stop signs contingent up?n the speed humps being removed on Dysprosium.

Mayor Gamec inquired about the possibility of placing a stop sign in the middle of Dysprosium
to slow traffic and remove the speed humps.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the intersection warrants signilization, and he is frustrated
that the County Public Works Committee would be so arrogant to risk someone being killed in
the intersection in order to have the speed humps removed.

City Engineer Jankowski explained that placing a stop sign in the middle of Dysprosium would
discourage people from using the collector streets to get to the main roads.

J
I;

Councilmember Hendriksen questioned why a Commissioner who represents the Ramsey area
would hold the City hostage to get an improvement that is desperately needed. He stated that all
telephone calls in regards to the situation should be directed to Commissioner Berg so that he is
made aware that he is not representing the wishes ofthe citizens.

Councilmember Connolly suggested that Commissioner Berg be invited to the next Council
meeting.

". J
I.... .
,1.1
fl-i

Motion by Council member Connolly, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to direct Staff to
formally invite Commissioner Berg to the next Council meeting to discuss the issue of speed
humps on Dysprosium Street.

Motion carried.
