Councilmember Anderson stated that the Parks Department will need general funds or other funding sources to continue maintenance ofthe parks and trails in the future. Commissioner Rolfe noted that inventory of each park would also be a very useful document for the City. Councilmember Connolly questioned ifthere is a fee for "for-profit" tournaments, Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied yes, but noted that the City virtually has no "for-profit" tournaments. Councilmember Connolly suggested charging a tournament fee for any tournament. Commissioner Johns replied that the City is just beginning the process of developing the parks for tournaments. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he is concerned that the City over-built parks and trails not really knowing the long term costs tha~ will be incurred. ParkslUtilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the equipment revolving fund. B) Park Dedication Rates: ParkslUtilities Supervisor Boos stated that it would be an opportune time for the City to consider increasing the park dedication rate, since the City currently does not have any subdivisions taking place. He explained that there was a considerable amount of discussion during the last Park and Recreation Commission meeting and a motion was made recommending an increase of park dedication to $1,200 and trail fee to $300 per dwelling unit, and not distinguish between rural and urban land. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he felt the $1,200 rate is very reasonable and would be in support of the recommendation. Councilmember Zimmerman also showed support ofthe recommendation. Councilmember Anderson stated that the City needs to be comparable to other cities.
