CASE #3

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROJECTS FOR 2000
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:

Each year, the City receives CDBG funding from Anoka County for projects within Ramsey.
The purpose of this case is to apprise the Commission of two "in-house" projects that received
tentative support at a January 31, 2000 Council work session. These are installing handicap
accessible ramps at approximately 19 locations where City paths meet standard concrete curbs
and a trail construction project. All background on the 2000 CDBG matter is detailed in
Community Development Director Frolik's attached City Council case.

As the case which includes potential project list indicates, new trail construction is eligible for
CDBG moneys. For City Council's trail funding consideration, staff modified the pre-existing
critical trail link plan map. The trail project receiving interest by the Council is a connection
from Solstice Park to the area of the Senior's apartment building and Trunk Highway #47 and
Xkimo Street. Staff will present this same map at the February 10, 2000 Commission meeting.
The purpose of this case is to apprise the Commission of the City Council's CDBG process -
should the Commission desire to comment on the above-referenced projects.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor
Community Development Director

Copies also distributed to:

City Administrator
Director of Public Works

PR:2/10/00
