City of Ramsey
15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA $5303

Mark D. Boos
Parks & Utilities Supervisor
PHONE: (612) 427-1410
FAX (612) 427-5543
TDD (612) 427-8591

Dear Developers 8; Interested Residents:

The purpose of this correspondence is to invite your comment on a draft ordinance
requiring the construction of an 8' wide sidewalk on one side of all new urban residential
streets, except cul-de-sacs. The Planning Commission and Park Commission are
expected to recommend City Council adoption of the ordinance this spring. The drai~
text currently reads as follows:

"All subdivisions within the.urban service area' shall have a minimum
eight-foot (8') wide bituminous or concrete trail or sidewalk
paralleling each street to provide for effective snow removal and safe
two-way traffic. The only urban subdivision streets that may not be
required to have these trails are residential cul-de-sacs with no
probability as a through street. The trail will be constructed as a
Stage I improvement. The cost will be borne by the developer and
not eligible for credit .against park and trail dedication fees. The
design must meet current standards of the City, comply with the ADA
act and be shown on the preliminary plat for approval."

Your comments are welcome at the Park Commission regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. on
February 10, 2000. You may also provide them in writing or fax to Ramsey Municipal
Center.

Sincerely,

CITY OF RAMSEY

Mark Boos
Parks & Utilities Supervisor

C.C.

City Council
Planning Commission
Park & Recreation Commission
