City Engineer Jankowski replied that the City has been successful in the past with feathering, but <br />will be able to mill if necessary. <br /> <br />Gerald Priddy, 14141 Iodine Street NW, Ramsey Terrace, stated that he does a lot of walking <br />and does not see that the roads are in that bad of shape. He has a sprinkling system located close <br />to the roadway and questioned if the overlay will be wider than the existing roadway. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied that Mr. Priddy's sprinkler head~"should be out of harms way <br />unless they are directly adjacent to the current pavement. <br /> <br />Mr. Priddy inquired as to why the overlay is being done since the roadway wilI crack anyway <br />and in a year look the same as it currently does. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied that the streets will not look the same in one year. He explained <br />that the type of cracking that will show after a year or two are the cracks that go completely <br />across the road. <br /> <br />Mr. Priddy inquired if the roads were not overlayed how long would the roads last. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied that if the roads were not overlayed it would hold up until <br />pieces of the road started breaking apart and then the road would be very costly to repair and that <br />could happen very quickly. <br /> <br />Mr. Priddy inquired as to when last overlay was completed. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski replied that the road were last sealed in 1990 and constructed in 1985. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the City is trying to prevent major repair from being needed to the <br />roads. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the City's maintenance plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that in Reilley's Estates there is no concrete curb, only <br />bituminous, and questioned what will happen to the curbing with the overlay. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied that they will overlay right into the curb, which will result in <br />losing approximately I-½ inches of the existing curb.
