ALTERNATIVES/IMPACTS (UPSIDE/DOWNSIDE)

Upside -

Increasing fees is necessary to help cover the cost of inflation.

Downside- Anytime we increase fees it is difficult.

STAFFRECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the commission set the~youth athletic maintenance fee at $12.50 per participant for
2001-03 and the non-resident fee of $15.

If the commission is uncomfortable raising the fee to $12.50 staff would recommend an alternative
recommendation as follows:

Increase the city portion of the maintenance fee from $4 to $6.25 and keep the capital improvement portion
of the fee at $4. This would mean that the maintenance fee would be set at $10.25. Staffwould trot
recommend the city reduce or eliminate the capital improvement portion of the maintenance fee as this is a
valuable resource to assist in projects that benefit youth athletics in our park system.
