Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that the purpose of the case was to accept the resignation~ <br />of Ms. Beth Asfahl and to request City Council declare a vacancy on the Commission. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Ostrum, seconded by Commissioner Johns, to accept Ms..Beth <br />A~fha~l's resignation and request City Council advertise for a vacancy on the Commission. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Ostrum, Johns, and Droegemueller. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by. Commissioner Ostrum, seconded by Commissioner Johns, to direct staff to draft a <br />letter from the Park Commission thanking Ms. Asfahl for her service to the City. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Ostrum, Johns, and Droegemueller. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Discuss Central Parks Entrance Design <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that during the City Council approval of the 2000 Park's <br />Capital Improvement Program, Council requested that the southwest corner of Central Park <br />receive development worthy of its entrance to the park and its value in advertising Ramsey to <br />out-of-town Game Fair visitors. The intent would be for this landscape and signage to be <br />substantially complete by the 2001 Community Picnic. Staff has hired the firm of Landform <br />Strategies to assist the Commission in concept planning. The purpose of the case was to <br />announce that the Commission will be continuing the discussion in a workshop format following <br />the regular Park Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Stephen Mastey, Landscape Architect from <br />Landform Strategies. <br /> <br />Landform Strategies, <br /> <br />gave a brief history of <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />1) City of Anoka Aquatic Center <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted that a letter was sent to the Aquatics Manager requesting a <br />response to Council's questions. <br /> <br />2) MASC Youth Enrichment Grant <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted that the City has received the contract documents for the <br />$100,000 grant. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that he has been talking to a lot of Ran~sey residents over the last <br />several weeks and many of them had stated that they are very impressed with the work the Park <br />Commission is doing.
