height, they would need to erect additional towers. She stated they did look at many other sites <br />including churches, parks, and power lines. It was learned that the power lines are high tension <br />so they are unable to mount their antennas. Ms. Bocian noted that in January, they talked about <br />an engineer's report that confirmed there are no other structures within one-half a mile. She <br />explained that the south side ties into other areas of the U.S. West network. <br /> <br />David Mitchell, Design Engineer for U.S. West Wireless, noted one of the findings of fact <br />regarded the height issue. He displayed a map of the.subject site which identified areas of <br />current towers and target areas to gain continuous service. He noted the subject site is in the <br />middle of those areas and needed for that continuous service criteria. Mr. Mitchell stated if the <br />tower is only 75 feet high, it would require eight additional towers to be constructed and they <br />prefer to not have a proliferation of towers. Mr. Mitchell noted the location of the existing tower <br />at 167th Avenue and explained they can locate at 130 feet on that tower but that would not meet <br />their target area of coverage so additional towers would be needed to meet their objective. <br /> <br />Greg Landowski, 6131 Green Valley Road NW, Ramsey, stated he uses two different cell <br />telephone companies. At one time they did not have full strength coverage but now his cellular <br />telephones both have full strength signals. He stated that 0. ne of his cellular telephones is U.S. <br />West and suggested a tower is not needed. He stated h~ tr~ivels the entire area and has found he <br />can get a good signal so he questions the need for this tower. <br /> <br />Mr. Gamec asked if there are "dead spots" in coverage on Highway #47. <br /> <br />Mr. Landowski stated he used to have a problem but is no longer having that problem. He stated <br />he lives in this area and is not having a problem so he is totally against a tower and will not buy <br />the other two properties if the tower goes in. <br /> <br />Robert Longfield, 5751 177~ Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated the Planning Commission had asked <br />U.S. West to do a survey on the existing tower. He suggested they consider erecting a tower in <br />Burns and use the existing tower in Rarnsey. He noted it is only 1.5 miles to the Ramsey border <br />from the existing tower site so it will serve the needs of Ramsey residents. Mr. Longfield noted <br />the Gobernatz property is currently not developed and when it goes to the 1 to 2.5 criteria, it will <br />be available for additional development. He suggested they determine if the existing tower can <br />provide service to the City's border. <br /> <br />John Enstrom, 8702 - 18Ist Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated he has five towers on his farm property <br />which have been checked by U.S. West and found they will get reception. He noted the towers <br />mn down the middle of Ramsey and asked why the City would consider erecting a new tower <br />instead of using one of the existing ones. Mr. Enstrom advised of the number of antennas that <br />are using existing NSP towers without the need to erect additional new towers.
