P.W. CASE #:

SIGNAGE ON 153~ AVENUE N.W. EAST OF HIGHWAY #47
By: Grant Riemer, Public Works Supervisor

Background:

Some concern has been raised about the intersections on 153fa Avenue N.W. east of
Highway #47 and their signage. There are 10 intersections on this section of roadway, 9
of which are "T" style intersections. All of these intersections are controlled by stop
signs placed on the roads intersecting 153fa Avenue N.W. Also there are two entrances
cut into the curb on the north side of 153rd Avenue N.W., one at Waco Street N.W'. and
the other at Yakima Street N.W. Both of these entrances lead into a vacant lot at this
time. The following items are enclosed for you information:

a) Area location map

Recommendation:

It would be Staff's recommendation that the signage remain as is on this section of
roadway. This recommendation is based on the fact that all of the intersections are
controlled by stop signs. If the entrances on the north side, mentioned above, are a
source of confusion they could be signed using 18"xl 8" reflectors.

Committee Action:

Based on discussion.

Review by:
Public Works Supervisor

Copies to:
City Engineers
City Administrator

P.W. 07/18/00
