CASE #

JOINT MISSISSIPPI RIVER CROSSING
RESOLUTION PROPOSAL TO THE CITY OF DAYTON
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator

Background:

The proposed Mississippi River crossing between the Cities of Ramsey and Dayton has
been discussed for many years. As recently as 1992, the Dayton City Council adopted a
resolution that, in a general sense, supported a Mississippi River crossing, however, a
resolution passed in February 1994, rescinded the prior action. Comprehensive Plans are
near completion for both the Cities of Ramsey and Dayton, which include discussion of a
Mississippi River crossing. During the Council work session of January 5, 1999, the
Ramsey City Council directed staff to draft a letter to the Dayton City Council requesting
a proposed resolution in support of a Mississippi River crossing at a mutually agreed
upon location. A letter has been drafted and is attached to this case.

Council Action:

Motion to agree to sign a letter to the Dayton City Council proposing a joint resolution in
support of a Mississippi River crossing.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Community Development Director

CC: 01/12/99

jo/DaylOtl
