Case 1: Consider a Resolution to Authorize a Paid -on -call Firefighter Recruitment Case 2: Consider a Resolution Ending the Probation of Paid -On -Call Firefighters Background: Case 1: The case was reviewed by staff explaining the need to bring the city to its full complement of firefighters. Staff wishes to begin a recruitment process to hire up to a total of 6 new paid -on -call firefighters to service the Ramsey and Nowthen stations. Chief Kapler provided the Personnel Committee with an explanation regarding the staffing levels. Case 2: The case was reviewed by staff explaining that a group of paid -on -call firefighters are coming up on the end of their 1-year probation. The following paid -on -call firefighters Cory Helgoe, Steve Lundeen, and Paul Reighard have successfully completed the required 1-year probation, including the necessary training. Recommendation: Case 1: Motiioned to recommend adoption of resolution # 11-04-XXX, which upon City Council approval, will allow staff to begin a firefighter recruitment. Case 2: Motioned to recommend adoption of resolution 11-04-XXX which, upon City Council approval, removes Cory Helgoe, Steve Lundeen, and Paul Reighard from probation and retains them as a paid on -call Fire Fighters. Council Action: Case 1: Make a motion to confirm the recommendation of the Personnel Committee adopting resolution # 11-04-XXX to authorize staff to begin a firefighter recruitment. Case 2:Make a motion to confirm the recommendation of the Personnel Committee adopting resolution 11-04-xxx to remove Cory Helgoe, Steve Lundeen, and Paul Reighard from probation and retain them as a paid on -call Fire Fighters. 03-22-11 PC Meeting Resolutions and Docs.
