fff~.CASE # ~ <br /> <br />RECEIVE HIRING RECOMMENDATION FOR <br />ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES MANAGER POSITION <br />Jim Norman, City Administrator <br /> Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Since December staff has been following the process to replace the Administrative <br />Services Manager. Thirty-three people applied for the opening. Applications were <br />reviewed, rated and ranked independently by the Administrative Services Manager and <br />the Assistant to the City Administrator. The City Administrator reviewed the findings <br />and decided to interview five candidates. <br /> <br />Two sets of interviews were conducted on February 10. An administrative interview <br />panel consisting of the City Administrator, Administrative Services Manager and <br />Assistant to the City Administrator spent an hour with each candidate. A technical panel <br />consisting of Kay McAloney, Personnel Director for the City of Anoka, and Germain <br />Krein, Assistant to the City Administrator for the City of Coon Rapids, spent a half hour <br />with each candidate. All interviews were structured, meaning the same questions were <br />asked of each candidate. <br /> <br />Based on interview results, two candidates were recommended for a final interview with <br />the City Council on February 23. At the time this case is being prepared, the City <br />Council's decision is not known. Therefore, staff is requesting authorization to make a <br />job offer to the candidate approved by the City Council. The job offer would be <br />contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of driving record <br />and criminal history, reference checks, and a physical examination. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize staff to make a job offer to the <br />Administrative Services Manager candidate approved by the City Council.
