This resident was present at the Public Works
Committee meeting and indicated that after the public hearing she had consulted with
neighborhood residents regarding the issue. She indicated that neighbors were not strongly
opposed to doing the project this year, and even had some concerns about delaying the project.
The Committee made a motion to retain I.P. #99-03 within the 1999 Street Maintenance
Program.

Four residents of the Traprock subdivision were present and discussed technical concerns about
I.P. #99-04. It was agreed that the City Engineer would meet with Mr. Bob Hamborg at the
earliest opportunity to review that street condition and the pavement rating system in the field.

Council Action:

No action is necessary at this time.

Case #3: Requests for Traffic Calming

The Public Works Committee was presented with a letter fi.om Mr. James Singewald requesting
three-way stop signs at the intersection of Potassium Street and 143rd Lane. The Public Works
Committee directed staffto perform the necessary site and accident history surveys and to report
back to the Committee at their April meeting.

Staff also indicated that it would report at the April rfieetin'g on the request for stop sign control
at the intersection of 144th Lane and Tungsten Way. A request was received last fall, and speed
surveys were unable to be conducted over the winter months.

Finally, a request for the closure of 158th Avenue between Traprock and Variolite Streets was
discussed with the same four residents of the Traprock subdivision mentioned in Case #2. The
residents present indicated that all 15 residents of the subdivision would support the closure.
Both members of the Public Works Committee expressed opposition to the closure, citing
concerns which include public safety and setting of precedence. The Committee directed staff to
obtain traffic counts through the neighborhood.

Council Action:

No action is necessary at this time.
