CONSENT # <br /> <br />UPDATE ON COMPUTER NETWORK HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On October 27, 1998, City Council authorized staff to purchase computer hardware and <br />software from the companies known as Inacom and Galaxy Computer Services. LOGIS, <br />the City's computer consultant, obtained the bids for the computer equipment on the <br />City's behalf. The amount author/zed at the meeting of October 27, 1998 was $48,097 <br />(copy of bid is attached) which did not include the cost for labor, cabling, upgrading to <br />Windows 98 and Office 97. <br /> <br />Based on the findings of a "computer audit" that the City had performed in the fall of <br />1998; it was determined that the City would spend approximately $100,000 to upgrade its <br />computers and make them year 2000 compliant. <br /> <br />The following is a breakdown of the costs associated with upgrading the City's computer <br />equipment: <br /> <br />ITEM COST <br /> <br />13 CMPQ Computers $20,735 <br />13 15" Monitors 2,795 <br />Intel Switch, Card & Intel Plus 3,294 <br />A_rcserve for Netware 1,050 <br />Windows 98 2,976 <br />Office 97 4,409 <br />Memory 1,139 <br />Cable Modem 270 <br />Modem 580 <br />Surestore Data 1,115 <br />Netserver 9,173 <br />Novell 7,533 <br />Router 2,358 <br />Labor 17,898 <br />Phone Lines, Shipping, Tax, Misc. 6,410 <br /> Total Computer Costs $81,735 <br /> <br />A resolution is also attached to formally confirm the amount of $81,735 as the amount <br />spent at year ending 1998, for the City of Ramsey's computer networking system. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Based on discussion -Adopt Resolution 99-03-XXX Resolution approving $81,735 <br />which is the amount spent to update the City of Ramsey's computer networking system. <br /> <br /> <br />
