I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />! <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />CASE #: g <br /> <br /> INFORMATIONAL ITEM <br />TEMPORARY RECEPTIONIST RETAINED TO ASSIST WITH COVERAGE FOR <br />EMPLOYEE LEAVE OF ABSENCE <br /> By: Joyce Pruitt Hottinger, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />JoAnn Shaw, Receptionist, has been working for the City of Ramsey since October 15, 1996. <br />Last week she was admitted for urgent surgery. Staff has been notified by the hospital Ms. <br />Shaw's is anticipated to be out of work for six to eight weeks. Staff has begun processing <br />paperwork to place JoAnn on Family Medical Leave, in accordance with Federal Law. <br /> <br />In order to provide coverage, Staff hired a temporary receptionist, Karen (Karie) Dynan to work <br />with temporary Pam Miller to fill in for the temporary vacancy. Mr. Karie Dynan was hired at <br />$10.00 per hour and was notified, in writing, the position is only temporary until Ms. Shaw can <br />return to work. The letter provided to Ms. Dynan is attached for City Council review. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Affirm the administrative action to retain a temporary receptionist to fill in for the vacancy of the <br />City Hall full-time Receptionist.
