Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen has submitted 1,,er resignation as a City Council <br />member, effective April 22, 1999 (resignation attached). According to the City Charter, <br />the City Council shall, by resolution, declare the vacancy to exist, and such vacancy shall <br />be filled according to the provisions contained in Section 4.5 of the City Charter. <br /> <br />Vacancy Declaration: <br /> <br />City Attorney Bill Goodrich will have returned from his vacation, on Monday, April 26, <br />1999, and will be able to draft a resolution for Council consideration. City Charter <br />Section 4.5 states that as part of the resolution, a special election will be required to be <br />he~d within 90 days after the vacas~cy has been declared and no less than 60 days of <br />rmblished prior ncti. ce of such a speci, al election. Staff has determined that the earliest <br />d~.:e a special elec:ion can be held is on June 30, 1999, and the last date possible for a <br />s',ecial election would be July 29, 1999.
