PURCHASE OF ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT FOR RIFLES <br /> By: David Gustafson, Police Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In 1998, the Ramsey Police Department received six surplus rifles from the U.S. <br />Department of Defense, as per Council authorization. Three members of the Department <br />have received extensive training from nationally recognized instructors on the use of <br />these rifles. They are now certified to instruct other officers of the Department to qualify <br />them with these rifles prior to placing them in the squad cars for emergency use. <br /> <br />The Police Department plans to modify the fning mechanisms on five of t'ne rifles to <br />make them more suitable for police use.
